The X-Lax Files

X-Lax-FilesOk, stand back! I’m about to unleash my inner-nerd! This could get messy. Allow me to gush for a minute or two here.

The X-Files, My all time favorite show, is back on TV! I can’t believe it! When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait for Friday nights. Cheese Pizza, Hot Fries, Strawberry Kiwi Snapple, and the X-Files! Sound like a recipe for disaster? More like a recipe for diarrhea… even so, it was by far the best night of the week! Another week of Junior High School in the books and the weekend was just getting starting. I look back on these days fondly to say the least.

I started buying the X-files box sets about five or six years back and I had this crazy idea that when my wife and I had kids, they could get Dad an X-files box set every year for Christmas until I had a complete set. That’s how much I loved this show. I started planning future gift purchases around it. Well here we are, a couple kids later and that dream seems all but shattered. What’s the point? I now have every episode available to me streaming on Netflix. Oh well. It was a romantic notion while it lasted.

Anyways here we are. It’s 2016 and FOX, the home of hit shows such as COPS and Judge Judy, decides that the time is ripe for a 6 episode X-Files miniseries! Now if I were to follow normal internet protocol, this would be the point where I rescind all my previous praise and feelings of nostalgia, and begin to tear the show and it’s creators apart. But I’m going to be honest here, The X-Files can do no wrong in my eyes. The mere fact that it’s back on the air, albeit for 6 short episodes, has got me completely on board. 1000%!

What? Their revealing that Moulder is in fact an alien woman trapped in an Earth man’s body, who is in fact deathly allergic to sunflower seeds? Eh…Ok. That seems like an odd choice, but…I can roll with it! I’ve watch two all-new episodes of my favorite, cancelled 90’s television show, on back to back nights this week! I mean seriously, read that last sentence back and let it sink in how cool that is! Things like this never happen!

For the first time in years, I’ve made a point to be home, in front of my television to catch a show in it’s scheduled time slot. That fact alone makes watching these new episodes that much cooler! So the rest of the internet can critique the show all they want but I for one could not be happier with it! I can say without a doubt that next Monday night at 8:00pm, you can find me front and center on my couch with some Cheese Pizza, Hot Fries, Strawberry Kiwi Snapple, The X-files, a horrible case of diarrhea, and a huge smile on my face!
